Happy Pride Month! It's the time of year when we honor those who came before us, reflect on how far we've come, and celebrate the incredible accomplishments of the LGBTQ+ community! Today, we support the organizations that are taking action to make our world a more colorful and inclusive place, one day at a time. This civil rights organization is dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma. Since 2003, the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC) has been America’s leading national civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+, and same gender loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS through coalition building, federal policy change, research, and education.
The Trans Justice Funding Project is a community-led funding initiative founded in 2012 to support grassroots, trans justice groups run by and for trans people in the United States, including U.S. territories. Over the last nine years, Trans Justice Funding Project has worked with 54 trans and nonbinary community grantmaking panelists and fellows who received 1,750 applications, given away 1474 grants through our community-led process, and distributed more than $5.6 million.
Connecting members of the Black LGBTQ community with information and resources to educate, engage and empower their fight for equity and access. The Center for Black Equality’s goal is to build a global network of LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, community-based organizations and Prides dedicated to achieving equality and social justice for Black LGBTQ+ communities through Economic Equity, Health Equity, and Social Equity.
The Freedom Fund posts bail to secure the safety and liberty of LGBTQ+ people in jail and immigration detention. The LGBTQ+ Freedom Fund pays immigration bonds in any U.S. state and pretrial bail in Florida, focusing on LGBTQ individuals. LGBTQ+ also works as an advocacy, education, grantmaking and policy outfit to mobilize the public and policymakers to address the disproportionate impact of incarceration on LGBTQ individuals.
